Flexography

Flexography is a printing process that uses a flexible relief plate to print.

High definition, maximum volume and unbeatable unit cost

Flexography is a rotary printing process that uses flexible plates (photopolymers) mounted on cylinders to transfer ink to the substrate. The HD (high definition) version incorporates electromechanical engraving technology, which raises the resolution to match or exceed that of traditional offset printing.

It is the most widely used technology in the labelling industry worldwide for medium and high runs. It allows printing on any substrate and integrating special finishes such as hot stamping, cold stamping, varnish and die-cutting in a single production pass.

Why choose flexography

Advantages of flexography in volume

HD flexography combines the quality of offset printing with the speed and versatility of the rotary process. It is the rational choice for any company with stable volumes and consolidated designs.

Very low unit cost at volume

Once the cost of the plates has been amortised, the cost per label drops drastically. For print runs exceeding 15,000-20,000 units, it is the most economical option on the market.

Up to 8 colours simultaneously

Our 8-colour Full UV press allows us to reproduce complex designs with multiple inks, including special metallic, fluorescent and UV varnish inks, all in a single pass.

Integrated premium finishes in-line

Printing on the back of the label, cold stamping and selective or total UV varnish are applied on the same press during production, without the need for a separate post-processing step which increases costs and extends deadlines.

Superior Pantone colour fidelity

Flexography uses spot inks formulated for each Pantone colour, ensuring a far superior colour fidelity to digital CMYK printing, which is critical for brand identity.

Compatible with all stands

Coated paper, laid paper, greaseproof paper, white and transparent PP, PET, PVC, metallised, and thermal paper. Flexography is the only technology that works optimally with absolutely all materials.

High production speed

Flexographic presses produce at much higher speeds than digital printing, which translates into competitive lead times even for runs of hundreds of thousands of units.

Do you need a roll higher than10,000 units Flexography is your option.

Integrated finishes

Special finishes available online

One of the great advantages of flexography is being able to integrate premium finishes on the same press during production, without additional post-processes that increase costs and lengthen delivery times.

Cold Stamping

Metallic, fluorescent and direct Pantone in any colour

Full UV varnish

High-gloss coating that protects and enhances print colours

UV varnish selective

Contrast matte-gloss in specific design areas for a premium effect

Inline die-cutting

Any custom shape cut in the same production run

Special inks

Variable prices, temporary offers, or product re-labelling for different distributors. Very short runs and with a high update frequency.

In-line lamination

Matt or gloss laminate applied directly after printing

Barcode

High-resolution printing of GS1 codes, EAN, Datamatrix and QR codes

Consecutive numbering

Integrated sequential numbering in production for traceability

Ideal applications for flexography

HD flexography is the sensible choice for projects with stable print runs, established designs and a need for special finishes or maximum colour fidelity.

High-volume industrial production

When runs exceed 20,000 units and the design is stable, flexography offers the lowest unit cost on the market and the highest production speed.

Premium wines and beverages with finishes

Wine labels with cold stamping, selective varnish and special die-cutting in a single pass. The combination of quality, finishes and cost is unbeatable for wineries with consolidated production.

Logistics: thermal labels

Thermal label rolls for shipping, warehousing, and parcel services. Flexography allows for large runs of thermal paper with pre-printed logos or fixed information.

Food

Major food producers with high print runs and frequent turnover. Technical resistance of the material guaranteed with an in-line protective UV varnish.

Chemistry and industry

Labels for PET or PVC chemical drums, bottles and containers with high-strength adhesives. Solvent-resistant specific inks printed using flexography.

Cosmetics with critical Pantone colour

When the brand's corporate colour is a very specific Pantone that cannot be approximated with digital CMYK. Flexography prints the direct Pantone with maximum fidelity.
